How is it already July? I feel like I finished my freshman year all of five seconds ago. Too many diaper changes must've have warped my overtaxed brain. Babysitting is, of course, NOT how I wanted to spend my summer vacation.
Speaking of, guess whose Fourth of July was almost ruined by a midget named Cassidy? Yep, that would be me.
Tobin and I were supposed to go to this big barbeque pool party at his friend Andry Rockwell's friend's girlfriend's house. She goes to Baptist, so I don't know her, but apparently her Fourth of July parties are legendary. But, at the last minute, Mom had to cover for one of her photographers and shoot the Waterfront. Dad's not back yet, Jack was working, and Hannah was having another one of her crying jags. So when Tobin came to pick me up, I told him to go on without me.
But then the Best Boyfriend Ever made me hand over Cassidy and told me to take a nap. When I got up, all of my friends were at my house, and Spencer (Tabitha's on-again, off-again boyfriend) was grilling Ballpark Franks right in my backyard. Even Brody was behaving himself, and made Spencer show him how to work the grill.
Love! My! Friends!
When Jack came home from work I handed Cassidy off and all of us piled into Spencer's Mom's SUV. We drove up to this street in Wilmington and parked on a hill so that we could watch the fireworks without having to deal with the crowds. I missed the Grand Finale, though, because Tobin whispered all this stuff in my ear about how much he loves me and then we were kissing. Allison started poking me and saying things like, "Get a room," but every time she says that to me - and believe me, it's a lot - I get this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach because I'm still not ready for any room-getting, and I'm always a little worried that Tobin will get tired of waiting for me to get ready, especially since he knows that Tab and Spencer are always "getting a room," and have been for several months.
But anyway.
Mom is thisclose to letting me stay at Tabitha's while her parents are on the cruise. One, because her sister Elizabeth will be there for half of the week, and two, because I promised to still babysit a couple of times. It's a good thing, too, because I almost went on strike, and that would be bad for everybody.
Jack rented The Butterfly Effect and wants to watch it, so I think I'll go do that now.
